The Modes:
The Blue Yeti Microphone has four different modes each suitable for different scenarios.
Cardiod Mode (Looks like a heart!)
- This mode records sound sources that are directly in front of the microphone.
- This mode is great for podcasting, streaming, music recording, voice overs, and instruments.
Stereo Mode (This guy has two overlapping circles!)
- This mode uses both the left and the right channels to capture a wider sound image.
- This mode would be ideal for recording acoustic guitar guitar, a large group environment like a choir, or something more immersive like ASMR videos.
Omnidirectional Mode (One single circle!)
- This mode picks up sound equally from all around the microphone.
- Blue describes this setting as being best used for a “being there” sound. This would be good for live performances, multi-person podcasts or conference calls.
Bidirectional Mode (Two circles vertically stacked!)
- This mode records sound from the front and the rear of the microphone.
- This is a perfect option for something like a two person interview.
What does the Blue Yeti come with & offer?
The Blue Yeti has some really cool features that make it a perfect microphone for newcomers or professionals. It is very versatile only needing the included usb connector to start recording.
The Blue Yeti includes a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can plug in headphones and hear yourself in real time with zero latency delays.
The base included is very sturdy. It is a durable metal and includes two knobs on the side to tighten or loosen the microphone in the stand. This feature helps to position the microphone right where you need it. It gets the job done right out of the box!
Heading to the bottom of the microphone, there is a universal screw hole so you can add on any new microphone stands or boom arms later down the road! (Find my suggested boom arm here!) This screw option gives you new options for setups so you can find the perfect placement for you and your setup.
There is a “Mute” button on the front of the microphone which has a constant red light glowing from the center. When pressed the glowing light is blinking to indicate all sound will be muted.
The final feature included on the Blue Yeti microphone is the gain control dial located on the back. The gain dial helps you find tune loudness of your input. Basically the more gain you add, the louder the volume will be and vice versa.
Put a more personalized touch using the Blue Yeti microphone too. Blue Yeti offers 14 different color schemes to match your already established theme or add a pop of color to into your setup.
